Finally, someone is updating the graphics for all of your favorite games from 80s! Atari have announced Atari Classics Evolved for the Playstation Portalble, and this is the first time this has been done … right?
Evolved features Atari classics like Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe, Battlezone, Centipede, Lunar Lander, Millipede, Missile Command, Super Breakout, Tempest, Warlords, and Pong. Each title will be playable in two flavors — an untouched original, and an "evolved" version with new, polished graphics.
In addition to the 11 titles getting the "evolved" treatment, over 60 original Atari 2600 titles will be available, including Yar’s Revenge and Crystal Castles. The game also features online leaderboards, as well as peer-to-peer wireless compatibility for the multiplayer titles included.
Tacking the word "evolved" onto Geometry Wars seemed to work for Bizarre Creations, so there’s no doubt Atari Classics Evolved is going to fly off of shelves.
