In what may very well be the smartest idea I’ve heard in a while, it appears that Nintendo may be bringing downloadable games to the Nintendo DS. According to Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime in an interview with the New York Times, “complete games” will soon be available for download through the Wii that you will be able to transfer via Wi-Fi to the DS.
One question that has yet to be answered is how exactly the games will be stored on the handheld. Some have speculated that Nintendo may use a type of writable DS cartridge to store the games, which seems like the logical solution. However, when you consider the inclusion of the Nintendo Wii in the process, it may be entirely possible that you will only have access to the game while the DS and Wii are synched.
