More video game related movie news out of Cannes, as word from Variety is that a film based on the SNK Playmore title, King of Fighters, is readying to film in Hong Kong early next year. Flashes of the Street Fighter film, but there's definitely some hope for this one.
The Engligh-language film will be directed by Gordan Chan, the man responsible behind (arguably) one of Jet Li's best films, Fist of Legend. The script is being penned by Chris Chow, whose only other writing credit includes another Li picture, Fearless. Who knows where Chow is finding the time, him being so busy being a "camera trainee" on the soon-to-be comedy classic, Christmas in Wonderland.
No word on which of the series' 367 fighters the movie will focus on, but if none of the Metal Slug characters are involved, I'll wait for the DVD.
