Potential bad news for fans of cute little housekeeping robots: word from GameStop/EB Games corporate is that Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol, the DS sequel to the adorable GameCube title, has been canceled. Customers who had reserved the game received the call today from the sultry-voiced GameStop/EB Games robot, Aeris, and a few quick calls to multiple local stores confirm that an e-mail communication regarding the cancellation was received this morning.
This is troubling news for fans of Chibi-Robo — the title (which was released in Japan earlier this month) was set to hit stores late September of this year. Nintendo’s official site is currently listing the game for an October 2 release, so all of this could be a big misunderstanding. One can only hope.
For now, we’re treating this as a rumor. We’ve contacted Nintendo for comment, and we’ll update this huge story as it breaks.
